UN Secretary-General António Guterres declared that the era of global warming has ended and the era of “global boiling” has begun as scientists confirmed that July was on track to become the hottest month ever recorded.

Guterres urged immediate and dramatic climate action to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Global temperatures shattered records this month due to the burning of fossil fuels, leading to extreme weather events and deadly heatwaves.

The World Weather Attribution network attributed the heatwaves in southern Europe, North America, and China to human-caused climate change.
